Join the Mission in Taiwan

NETCA has internship programs suited to fit almost any Christian of any age. While we can literally accept anyone for any amount of time, we generally hosts 1 month, 3 months, 6 months and 1 year programs. Our programs may consist of one single person, several single people, families, a group of friends or a small group from a church. Candidates 18 and over have interned with us from all over the United States and Taiwan. While most are young and free we also host middle aged, and golden-year interns. In fact, the rich experiences brought to NETCA through various ethnicities, backgrounds and generations adds organizational vitality!

A NETCA missionary intern is passionate about people who haven't heard and eager to share the gospel.

A missionary intern reads the scriptures regularly and is led by the Holy Spirit. They are intentional about evangelism. They seek personal growth as they serve others. They may serve as many terms with NETCA as they like.

They are not afraid of foreign languages. They are not afraid of every mosquito. They can survive with plenty or in lack. They are able to forfeit western expectations and entitlements to become a foreigner in a small village with a big purpose.

NETCA’s interns are always born-again Christians with at least a basic knowledge of God’s Word coupled with a passion to know Him more. While they come from various cultural backgrounds they always come from church backgrounds. Most have served their local body, and may be gifted in music, teaching, church programming, administration, clerical, maintenance, preaching or just plain serving as needed,

If you are interested in serving the Lord in Taiwan NETCA is a great covering and is willing to work with all those who are accepted into our programs. You can contact NETCA’s director, Richard Roberts, today with your requests at northeasttaiwan@gmail.com

Gap Year Missionary

  1. Have you just graduated from High School or University?

  2. Want to study or start a career but spend 3–12 months on mission first?

Make your calling tangible. Spend three to twelve months living in a small village in northeast Taiwan as part of a structured, Spirit-led mission program that mentors and coaches participants to grow in their knowledge of God so they can make Christ more widely known. During your stay you will also begin learning a new language, immersing yourself in local life and culture to deepen both your faith and practical communication skills.

How to become a Gap Year Missionary in northeast Taiwan: Decide, Apply, and Prepare for the journey

  1. Don’t act on impulse or fear. Decide calmly and obediently to follow God’s calling. Talk with your parents or a trusted spiritual leader. Pray and fast.

  2. If you think God is calling you to serve in Taiwan with NETCA, ask for more information — otherwise you won’t know the next step. Applying doesn’t commit you; it just clarifies what to expect. There’s no cost, and if chosen you can decide whether to accept.

  3. If you apply, are accepted, and choose to go, prepare for your trip. NETCA’s director will guide you by email, Messenger, WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, or LINE. You won’t know how to be a gap-year missionary until you follow these three steps: Decide, Apply, Prepare. Start today.

Gap year missionaries already have a bent toward a certain high calling.

They may feel called to express God’s love through becoming a doctor, finding cures, teaching in schools, pastoring, or counseling etc .

NETCA gap year missionaries may serve in whatever capacity needed or they may serve in such a way that they gain valuable experience for their career paths.

A gap year missionary may need time to decide what God’s calling for their life is.

Getting Started

STEP 1

GETTING ON THE BOAT

Any journey requires that you first “get on the boat.” If you never “get on the boat,” you are not going anywhere. When someone feels called to do something new there is always doubt. Family and friends may challenge your decision. Funds may not be available. Schedules may need to be changed.

By “getting on the boat,” you will automatically begin to take care of these challenges one-by-one. To know if God is truly speaking you have to set your mind on “getting on the boat or, rather, begin making plans. If it was just your emotions speaking to you and not God then He will never allow the boat to leave the harbor. GET ON THE BOAT” to find out if this is your calling.

STEP 2

FUNDRAISING

Fundraising is always the next question. While some may be able to fully fund themselves others may have to fundraise. Remember the mission that God is calling you on is His—not yours. If he is calling you to go He is at the same time calling others to send you. If you need information on how to fundraise you can send a message on Facebook or

STEP 3

PASSPORT & VISA

To enter into a foreign country you always need two things. First you need a valid passport from your home country which states who you are. The passport needs to have an expiration date that extends at least six months after your departure from the country you are visiting. Second, you need to be invited by the foreign country. This invitation is called a VISA.

Every country offers a different way to apply for a VISA. Since Taiwan has a good relationship with the US every American citizen gets a free three month VISA upon their arrival at the Taiwan airport. If your stay in Taiwan is longer than three months you have to fly out to Hong Kong and back every three months. It’s a short, inexpensive journey, but upon your return you receive another free three month VISA.

STEP 4

IMMUNIZATIONS

You don’t need any other than what is customary in the US. Immunization policy is the same for Taiwanese citizens as it is for US citizens.
